RonartThe Ronart Company was founded in 1984 by Arthur Wolstenholme, specifically to recreate a thrilling experience for the driver in feel, sight and sound of the magnificent racing machines of the 1950's era.
Ronart gained a high reputation for its products both in UK and abroad. Whilst most cars were for the UK market cars have also been in LHD form in South America, USA, Japan, Germany & France.
In 1984 Arthur began designing cars of which his first car was on display at the National Classic Motor Show of 1985. Called the Alicat, the aluminium bodied, Jaguar powered sports racing car had great potential and the decision made to go forward with the design of the W152.
The following year saw development of the W152 and the prototype, seen in the picture at the top of this page, is still on the road and used daily. This car was completed and first used in October 1986.
In 1987 Ronart Cars Ltd, was formed to manufacture the W152 in Peterborough and to date over 100 cars have been completed.
In 1999 Arthur designed a modern sports car later to be called the Lightning. This was a state-of-the-art carbon fibre bodied supercar powered by a 4.6 litre 32valve, 325bhp V8 Mustang Cobra engine.
The Lightning concept car was unveiled at the 1999 London Motor Show with great success and over twenty deposit order customers gained alone on its launch.
In July 2003 Arthur Wolstenholme started RAE Ltd.a car manufacturing and design facilitity; continuing the manufacture of the W152 then finally setting up the business with the historic Vanwall name in December 2003.
Vanwall Cars continue to manufacture the W152 and the Lightning.
